Generate Bitcoin Wallet Password

A wallet password encrypts your wallet application and protects local access. A seed phrase (12 or 24 words) is the master key that can regenerate your entire wallet on any device. Both must be secured, but the seed phrase is more critical — anyone with your seed phrase controls your funds regardless of your wallet password. Store your seed phrase offline in a secure physical location.

If you have your seed phrase, you can restore the wallet on a new device and set a new password. If you have lost both the password and seed phrase, your funds are permanently inaccessible. There is no 'forgot password' option in cryptocurrency — no bank or company can help you recover access. This makes secure backup of both credentials absolutely critical.

For holdings worth more than a few hundred dollars, a hardware wallet (Ledger, Trezor) is strongly recommended. Hardware wallets keep your private keys on a dedicated device that never exposes them to your internet-connected computer. A software wallet protected by even the strongest password is vulnerable to malware, clipboard hijackers, and keyloggers on your computer.

Common attack vectors include phishing sites mimicking exchanges, malware that replaces wallet addresses in your clipboard, SIM-swapping to bypass 2FA, and brute-forcing weak passwords on cloud-synced wallet files. A strong 24-character random password protects against the brute-force vector, but you must also guard against phishing and malware through general security hygiene.
